In addition, interested researchers are encouraged to attend UKRI’s webinar (in English only), scheduled for July 9, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. EDT,which will offer an opportunity for Canadian and UK researchers to connect.
About the call:
Canadian university researchers are required to partner with UK researchers and may also partner with US researchers. Collaborators and partner organizations from outside academia (industry, public, not-for-profit) are permitted.
Through a lead agency model, the UK project lead must submit a single collaborative expression of interest and, if invited, a full proposal on behalf of the UK, Canadian and, if applicable, US research teams. Proposals will undergo merit review by UKRI, the lead agency.
Funding for eligible Canadian researchers will be provided by NSERC, SSHRC and CIHR. Each agency expects to allocate $3M to this call (total approximate Canadian investment of $9M).
Key deadlines:
- Expressions of interest are due to UKRI by Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 11 a.m. EDT (4:00 p.m. BST).
- Full proposals are due to UKRI by Thursday, October 1, 2026, at 11 a.m. EDT (4:00 p.m. BST).
Please bear in mind that any project-, partner-, student, or team-specific questions are better addressed privately; you can send these anytime by contacting us at RP-Initiatives-PR@nserc-crsng.gc.ca.
