Enhancing Peer Review Quality in the Project Grant Program

CIHR has launched targeted consultations with the health research community to address the quality of peer review in the Project Grant competition, its largest funding program. To support this work, CIHR is hosting a series of open webinars that will provide an overview of the current challenges in the peer review system, followed by a discussion of potential interventions (e.g., moving to one competition per year, restricting applications, capping resubmissions). Feedback gathered through these consultations will inform a position paper outlining options for improvement, which will be shared with the community for broader consultation later this summer.
