Business Administration (MBA)
Master of Business Administration (MBA)
Thank you for your interest in Lakehead's Master of Business Administration (MBA) program. The Master of Business Administration (MBA) program at Lakehead University is a general degree designed to prepare students for success in a wide range of careers in management.
We now offer two MBA program options.
The two versions of the program help students to develop a comprehensive and integrated knowledge of business and management functions and a deeper understanding of the business environment. Students develop analytical, decision-making, and communication skills and enhance their abilities to examine ethical considerations in business. This program achieves these goals through intensive and stimulating lectures, energetic class discussions, contemporary and relevant case studies, and experiential learning projects.
The MBA program is offered on a full-time and a part-time basis.
Please pay particular attention to our admission requirements and note that Lakehead University will not assess admissibility of a student until a formal application for admission is received. Faculty of Business Administration accepts both GMAT and GRE. Unless specified in admission requirement, the GMAT/GRE condition cannot be waived under any circumstance. There are a number of available GMAT/GRE preparation workbooks, websites and programs to help you achieve better scores. Make sure that official GMAT/GRE scores are available by and sent to Lakehead University in time. We would encourage you to apply if your qualifications reach our admission requirement.
Students who successfully complete the MBA program will have:
Goal 1. Our graduates should have a comprehensive and integrated knowledge of management functions.

Our graduates will think analytically to identify a problem and apply appropriate quantitative and qualitative analysis to develop workable solutions.

As part-time MBA study is intended for working professionals, these students will not be considered for financial support.
Applicants for admission must be graduates of a recognized university, college, or institute as well as show evidence of scholarly achievement. Except where otherwise stated in the Admission Requirements of a particular program, degree students must have a four year bachelor's degree or its equivalent with at least second class standing (B) based on their last 20 half courses or equivalent.
An applicant holding a degree other than one in the discipline area to which admission is sought will be considered on the basis of courses taken and academic standing. A Qualifying Year at the undergraduate level may be required to meet the admission standards. Courses taken as part of a Qualifying Year can not be used as credit towards a graduate degree.
Meeting the minimum requirements does not necessarily guarantee admission. No candidate will be admitted unless the academic unit recommends admission. All applicants will be advised by the Office of Graduate Studies in writing of their admission status.
In addition to the general admission requirements for Faculty of Graduate Studies programs, the following minimum requirements also apply:
Preference will be given to applicants with more than two years of general work experience.
Applicants with experience greater than 5 years at a middle or upper level managerial position, or professional designations such as CA, CMA, CGA, CFA, CHRP AND CFP and other recognized designation will be looked on favourably and may be considered in cases of less than required undergraduate average or GMAT/GRE score.
Graduates of the Lakehead University Faculty of Business Administration with an excellent academic record will be considered for a waiver of the GMAT/GRE requirement.
The application deadline is February 1. Late applications will be considered for admission, but may not be eligible for funding. Meeting the above minimum requirements does not guarantee admission to the program(s).
