The Lakehead University community was saddened to learn of the loss of Dr. Lisle Thomson, who passed away on Friday, March 18.
Dr. Thomson was instrumental in establishing the School of Outdoor Recreation, Parks, and Tourism and he retired from the University as a Professor Emeritus in 1996.

Dr. Brent Cuthbertson, our dear friend, colleague and professor,passed away on October 28th, 2014.
Brent was born on June 2, 1961 in Zambia, and his family moved to Canada where he lived for most of his
childhood and adolescence. He earned a BEd (1989) from the University of Winnipeg and an MA (1992) and PhD (1999) in Outdoor Education from the University of Alberta. Brent joined the School of Outdoor Recreation, Parks and Tourism in 1996. He was the Director of the School between 2007 and 2011. He was also an adjunct professor in the Faculty of Education. Brent was internationally recognized for his expertise in outdoor leadership. He was deeply committed to his teaching praxis, pushing himself and his students to learn and challenge their ways of interacting with each other and the earth. Brent was a brilliant instructor, revered by both his students and colleagues. He is deeply missed by all.
