Steps for Graduating Students

1 . Submit your Intent to Graduate

Are you in the last year of your academic program? Submit your "Intent to Graduate" through myInfo by Friday February 26th- If you have any questions regarding this process, contact Enrolment Services at 807-343-8500 or at convocation@lakeheadu.ca.

We will send updates to your Lakehead University email, check back often for updates.

2 . Review the list - "May 15, 2017 - Senate Meeting to Approve Graduands"

A list of graduands will be reviewed at the Senate meeting on Monday May 15th, 2017. Following this meeting, you may check the list to see if you have been officially approved as a Lakehead University Graduate.

3. RSVP - Will You Attend? - Thunder Bay Campus

Convocation is a time to celebrate your accomplishments as a Lakehead University graduate, and to share this celebration with your family and friends. However, it is not mandatory that you attend.

Let us know if you plan to attend convocation by using our electronic RSVP system. When the online RSVP is available as of March 2nd, 2017, a notification will be sent to your Lakehead University email account.  

Please Note: RSVP submission deadline is Monday May 19th, 2017.

If you decide to attend convocation, there is a $70 non-refundable convocation fee which will be assessed during this process so you will need to have your credit card handy. Additionally, regalia (robe and hood) will need to be pre-ordered at a cost of $35 from our regalia provider, GASPARD. If you choose to decline to attend but then show up on-site, you will be charged additional late fees, so please make sure to RSVP and order your regalia now.

If you decide to not attend convocation, you may select to have your parchment mailed to you for a fee of $25 or you may pick your parchment up at your campus free of charge. Please let us know your decision so we can have your degree prepared.

4. Academic Regalia - Thunder Bay Campus

Academic Regalia - The academic costume, also referred to as academic gown, robe, or regalia, had its origins in the medieval European universities.

The Convocation RSVP will be open to students via myInfo starting March 2nd, 2017. An email will be sent to your Lakehead email account to notify you when it is ready. After you have RSVP'd a link to the gown ordering site "Gaspards" will be available.

Online Rental Fee: $35.00
On Site Rental Fee: $50.00*

*Students who do not pre-order regalia will be charged $50 on-site.

On the day of your ceremony, you may pick up your regalia at the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium in the big white tent - remember to bring your receipt. After the ceremony, you may wish to take this opportunity to take photos while wearing your academic regalia. Please return your regalia to the regalia tent, the same place that you picked it up.

Cancellations:
All cancellations for refund for academic regalia must be received BEFORE Monday May 19th, 2017 at 5:30pm EST. Refunds will not be accepted after this date.
