LU Instrumentation Laboratory

The Lakehead University Instrumentation Laboratory is a multi-purpose, centralized facility which serves researchers and students from three faculties, providing access to the fundamental tools needed for modern research and training. The Laboratory houses more than two million dollars of centrally used research equipment and much of this equipment is unique to the region.

Specific equipment that has been used for archaeological research by the Department of Anthropology include:

  • JEOL LSM 5900 Scanning Electron Microscope
  • Philips PX1050-3710 X-Ray Diffractometer
  • NMR (Varian Unity Inova 500)
  • ICP-AES (Varian Vista Pro Radial)
