Our next fundraiser for the LUAA will be a trivia night to help raise funds for students to attend the CAA’s in May.

Where: The Barrel House (by the Sleeping Giant Brewery) - 750 Macdonell St, Thunder Bay, ON P7B 4A6
When: Thursday, February 9th, 2023 from 6 pm to 10 pm.
Doors open at 6 pm, and event will start at 7pm.
Cost: $10 per person (Payment will be CASH ONLY at the door)

As there are only limited spots available we ask that you please fill out this google form to reserve your spot before hand!
The theme will be general knowledge questions (with a few Anthropology questions of course!) Teams will be of Max 5 people and will be up to each individual to find a team at the event. The winning team will receive a prize TBA and there is a door prize of a local vendors gift basket for everyone to be entered to win.


Snacks will be provided and Non-Alcoholic and Alcoholic drinks will be available for purchase provided by Sleeping Giant Brewing Company.

Part 1: Academic Integrity Matters (AIM) Course
The first part of this workshop will include an interactive tour through the AIM course material in a classroom setting. We will unpack each of the 8-modules from the AIM Course, discuss common academic integrity pitfalls and some often confusing grey areas. Students will work through each of the 8 quizzes and in the end, will receive their AIM Certificate of Completion.
*please bring a laptop or tablet with capable of connecting to WIFI so you can follow along on D2L

Participants are encouraged to bring their favourite dish to share for lunch. This will provide a great opportunity to visit and socialize during the break with the other workshop participants.

Part 2: Academic Writing Workshop
The second part of this interactive workshop will allow students to learn more about Lakehead's expectations for undergraduate/graduate-level academic writing. During the session, we will go through practice exercises to improve paraphrasing skills. The session will also provide students with a checklist for referencing their sources correctly.

In this 2-hour workshop we will explore collections of original documents in person. We will discuss the creation, selection, and preservation of archival records, and how you can read, ask questions of, and understand them in context. We will be exploring early 20th century business documents at the Lakehead University Archives, though with advance notice the workshop can be modified to meet other particular interests. This workshop is for anyone interested in learning more about archival research.
