May 19, 2022 is the 11th annual Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) and in celebration Student Accessibility Services would like to offer an opportunity to experience the digital world in a different way. Digital Accessibility isn’t just for people with medical conditions and disabilities, in fact, many people are using digital accessibility without even knowing it.

For example using captions on videos is not only for people who are deaf but can also be helpful for English language learners, people who need visual stimuli to focus, or people in a loud environment who don't want to turn their volume all the way up. Another example are virtual assistants like Alexa, and Siri. Digital Accessibility means access for all to the digital world.

Here’s how you can participate in Global Accessibility Awareness Day!

Keep and eye on the Lakehead Life Social Media accounts for the awareness campaign.

Visit the Student Accessibility Services Website for a Digital Challenge.

Join us on May 19, 2022 in person in the Chancellor Paterson Library (main floor) for a Technology Petting Zoo and Scavenger Hunt (drop in sessions 10am-12:30pm and 1:30pm-3pm.)
