Students interested in the study of history are invited to join members of the Department of History and special guest, Dr. Carl Young, for a roundtable discussion of History as a foundation for understanding world events in the decade to come. Dr. Young, a former Lakehead University faculty member, is an Associate Professor in the History department at Western University in London, Ontario. He teaches courses on Korean and Japanese history as well as on international relations in the Asia-Pacific. Members of Lakehead University’s Department of History will also provide insights from their respective areas of specialization. The focus of the discussion is on the advanced study of History as an option for students thinking of enrolling in an M.A. program.

The purpose of the roundtable discussion is to introduce students to the rewards of studying History at the graduate level. This event is aimed primarily at graduate and undergraduate students in History. However, students who are not History majors are welcome to attend because the Department of History will consider applications for graduate studies from students with a compatible background.

For students who are unable to attend this event, but who are interested in finding out more about graduate studies in History, please contact Dr. R. Harpelle, Graduate Coordinator for the Department of History.
