Lakehead University and the Thunder Bay Art Gallery are very pleased to present a special event devoted to the discussion of contemporary issues in research related to social justice. To mark the opening of Lakehead’s 2016 Research and Innovation Week, we are featuring two round table discussions at the Thunder Bay Art Gallery on Monday, March 7, 2016.

This event is made possible with the generous support from: the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, the Faculty of Education, the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law, Office of Aboriginal Initiatives, the Departments of Anthropology, English, History, Indigenous Learning, Philosophy, Political Science, Sociology, and Women’s Studies, as well as the Thunder Bay Multicultural Association and Diversity Thunder Bay.

  •  Refreshments will be served at the end of each round table.

CBC Wakes up with the Wolves slam dunk edition

CBC Thunder Bay and the Lakehead Thunderwolves are teaming up to deliver a hoop dream for basketball fans in the city.

The 'CBC Wakes up with the Wolves: Slam Dunk Edition!' on Monday, Dec. 5 will feature Lisa Laco and the Superior Morning team broadcasting the first-ever Blue vs White basketball intrasquad exhibition games - featuring both the men's and women's teams - live from the C.J. Sanders Fieldhouse.

Highlights of the morning will include:

  • players in uniform
  •  referees officiating the game
  •  the singing of O Canada
  •  fully lit scoreboard with music pumping through the speakers
  •  the CBC Blue vs. White trophy on the line
  •   Wolfie!
  •   interviews with the coaches
  •   chat with former Wolves coach Scott Morrison, now with the Maine Red Claws (an NBA development league team for the Boston Celtics)

Both the Thunderwolves and CBC will be offering giveaways, including t-shirts for kids.  Refreshments will also be available.

The Fieldhouse doors open at 6:00 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 5, with the action wrapping up in time to get the kids to school.

  •     Tip-off time for the women's game is 6:30 am.
  •     The men will take to the court at 7:30 am.
  •     The much-coveted CBC Blue vs. White trophies will be presented at 8:10 am.
