Loving Kindness Meditation

Our most important relationship is the one we have with ourselves. Celebrate Student Health and Wellness' Love Week by joining counsellor, Holly Maki, for a guided love and kindness meditation.

Buddha said ‘unless we treat ourselves with love and compassion, we cannot reflect the same on others.’ Once we start experiencing self-love and self-compassion for ourselves, we can show the same to others too.

Mirrorless Monday

Today is MIRRORLESS MONDAY:

Celebrate Your Uniqueness

Take a break from the mirror today and be good to yourself and your body. Accept yourself as you are and embrace the strengths and positive qualities you possess. Remember that a mirror can't reflect how amazing you really are.

Everyone has different strengths regardless of their shape or size. Let yours shine.

Palentine's Day

Palentine’s Day is your chance to celebrate all kinds of platonic love! Taking time for social connections with others can boost your mood and contribute to overall happiness, so grabbing your friends and heading down to Lake Tamblyn can be the perfect pick-me-up.

Join ResLife and Student Health and Wellness for a bonfire and hot chocolate as we light up Lake Tamblyn with twinkle lights. We'll also have some love-ly photo ops set up.

(OR) Tea & Teachings

Please come and enjoy some herbal tea and/or collective discussions. Teachings will be given about herbs used in various teas. Tea & Teaching is hosted by Frazer Phillips, Indigenous Cultural Wellness Facilitator.

Every Tuesday in February!

(OR) Round Dance Teachings

Winter time is Round Dance season. Drop in to connect with Frazer Phillips, Indigenous Cultural Wellness Facilitator, and learn about drumming, singing, etiquette, and dancing aspects of the Round Dance. Come and learn!

safeTALK

safeTALK is a 4-hour, in-person workshop to build skills in suicide prevention. Participants will learn how to recognize and engage with someone thinking about suicide, overcome attitudes that act as barriers to help, talk openly about suicide and connect with intervention resources for further support.

Through presentations, audiovisuals, small group discussion and scenario practice, you will learn a 4-step TALK model and practical steps to help activate a suicide alert that connects people having thoughts of suicide with more specialized intervention care and relevant resources.

(OR) Consent Conscious

Spin the wheel to see what situation arises and how you would react, would you give consent? Why or why not? This event is to raise awareness about consent and pose situations that you may not be aware of that require your consent - in relationships, and friendships and to see what makes a happy and healthy one. Also touching on what gaslighting is and how it can affect you in more ways than one.

(OR) Take10: Eating Disorder Awareness Week

Eating Disorders affect people of all genders, sexual orientations, ages, socioeconomic class, abilities, races, and ethnic backgrounds. That is why, from February 1st to 7th every year, Eating Disorder groups across Canada unite to commemorate Eating Disorder Awareness Week (EDAW) with a national week of action focused on educating the public about Eating Disorders.

Join staff from the Student Health & Wellness to escalate awareness of the impact of Eating Disorders, the dangerous stereotypes and myths, and the supports available for people living with or affected by them.

(OR) Affirmation Flowers (HP and OA)

Simcoe Hall: 11am - 2pm

Heritage Place: 1pm - 3pm

Show yourself some love this Valentine's Day! Pick up an affirmation flower and a sweet treat brought to you by Student Health and Wellness. You can also take an extra minute to write a message of gratitude to go with an affirmation flower for a loved one. Expressing gratitude can help people feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships.
