Lakehead University, Orillia Campus, invites applications for a Limited Term Appointment in the Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences/Department of Psychology. This is a 1-3 year-long position dependent on experience of the successful applicant. The teaching duties for this position consist of up to six undergraduate courses distributed over 2 academic semesters. The position will commence on August 1st, 2024.

The successful candidate will:

  1. Hold a doctorate degree in psychology or related discipline before starting the position;
  2. Demonstrate commitment to teaching at the undergraduate level 
  3. We are particularly seeking candidates with the ability to teach any of the following courses:
    1. Introductory Psychology, Statistics, Research Methods, Neuroscience, Cognition, Social psychology, Child and/or Adult Development
    2. Experience with experiential learning and online or alternative modes of delivery is highly desired.
  4. Demonstrated a commitment to research and scholarship by providing evidence of peer-reviewed academic publications, academic conference presentations, and/or knowledge translation activities;
  5. Demonstrated commitments to equity, diversity, decolonization, inclusion, belonging, and social justice.

 

The Department of Psychology is located on both the Thunder Bay and Orillia campuses with this position being located at the Orillia campus. The HBA Psychology degree at the Orillia campus was recently launched in 2022 and this position will contribute to the growth and development of this new program.

The Psychology Department offers at the Thunder Bay campus both arts and science undergraduate programs, graduate programs in Psychological Science (MSc and PhD), MA Clinical Psychology, and CPA-accredited PhD Clinical Psychology programs.
