Remembering Charlie Ripley

Professor Emeritus R.C.S. ("Charlie") Ripley, a long-serving member of Lakehead University's Department of Philosophy, passed away in London, Ontario, on Thursday, November 29, 2007. Charlie had been residing in London since his retirement in 1993. He was predeceased by his wife Muriel, and is survived by his children and grandchildren.

Charlie's career at Lakehead University spanned the years 1967-1993. He served twice as Chair of Philosophy (1976-1982 and 1987-1993), and also chaired the Interdisciplinary Religious Studies Program (1985-1988).

Charlie delivered the 1993 March Morris Lecture on "The Possibility of Life After Death", which despite the late hour of the lecture, the audience did not want to see end.

On behalf of the Lakehead University community, our condolences
