Emotional Intelligence in the Workplace

In this lecture, Lakehead Business Professor, Dr. Kathy Sanderson, gives an introduction to emotional intelligence (EI)—the ability to recognize and manage emotions in yourself and others—and its four core components: understanding our own emotions, managing emotions, perceiving emotions of others, and building relationships. We'll explore why EI has become increasingly valued in business environments, contributing to stronger leadership, teamwork, and conflict resolution. Participants will learn practical strategies for applying EI to improve workplace communication and develop competencies that employers consistently rank among the most desirable qualities in new graduates.
