Lakehead University’s two main campus locations in Thunder Bay and Orillia, Ontario provides you with two exceptional campuses to discover. With Lakehead’s partnership with Georgian College, we also now offer selected programs at the Georgian-Lakehead campus in Barrie, Ontario.

Thunder Bay Campus

Lakehead University is situated in the heart of the City of Thunder Bay. Fields and green space surround our campus and all buildings are conveniently located together in one location creating a true campus feel. Many of the University's buildings are grouped around Lake Tamblyn and our residence complexes hug the banks of the McIntyre River. Underground tunnels connect many of the main, centralized buildings on campus, allowing for easy access between classes and facilities. Paved trails surround the campus making it the perfect place to take advantage of taking in the beauty of the area whether you are walking, jogging, rollerblading, bicycling, or, in the winter, cross-country skiing!

Orillia Campus

In 2006, the Lakehead experience was brought to Central Ontario’s beautiful cottage country in the City of Orillia. The campus has two locations within the city: one in the historic downtown, and one at 500 University Avenue. In 2010, our brand new state-of-the-art campus opened which made it the first campus in North America to be built to LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) standard. Our Academic Building is environmentally friendly in every way possible; from the green roofing system, to geothermal energy source, water collection ponds, and much more. The campus also features a 250-bed residence, cafeteria and bookstore. All students have access to recreational facilities through our partnership with the YMCA.

Lakehead-Georgian Campus in Barrie

Home to our unique degree+diploma programs is the Lakehead-Georgian Campus in Barrie. In February 2016, Lakehead University and Georgian College announced they will launch more than 20 new degree programs and transfer pathways at campuses in Barrie and Orillia over the next five years. We are currently offering four diploma+degree programs at our Lakehead-Georgian campus in Barrie.

The Lakehead-Georgian Campus is a community within a community – a welcoming and safe place to study, with all the amenities. The campus is located in the heart of the City of Barrie, known for its friendly residents and four-season lifestyle. With nearby trails and ski hills as well as shopping malls, the campus offers a range of facilities including a fitness centre with climbing wall and gymnasium, innovation labs, library, public clinics, student lounges, cafeteria and on-campus restaurants, theatres and videoconferencing.
