Apply to the Academic English Program
Step 1- Choose Your Student Type
The application process for our Academic English Program (AEP) varies depending on what academic program (if any) you will be taking:
Undergraduate and Graduate Students
If you've already applied to Lakehead University and need to meet the English language requirement, follow the instructions in your Letter of Acceptance.
English Language Only Student
If you would like to apply to only the Academic English Program (AEP), you must first create a user account on the OUAC portal.

Application fee: $50 CAD
Step 2 - Submit Your English Test Scores
Students are required to submit a Lakehead University accepted proficiency test score (no older than 2 years) such as IELTS or TOFEL to determine which level they will begin their academic English program.
Don't have a valid English proficiency test? You can take the ELC Online Placement Test.

Step 3 - Get Rady!
