Women should wear long skirts and a t-shirt. Men should wear shorts. Be sure to bring a towel.

Participants are encouraged to bring the Elder a tabacco offering which is available for pick-up at ACSS.

Women who are on their moon time must not participate in the sweat lodge ceremony or handle ceremonial items.

Sweat lodge conductor, Gene Nowegejick, will be offering a Sweat Lodge Ceremony for students and staff of Lakehead University on Thursday, November 23, 2017.

Ceremony starts at 5:00 pm at the Lakehead University Sweat Lodge Site. Women should wear long skirts and a t-shirt. Men should wear shorts. Be sure to bring a towel. Participants are encouraged to bring the Elder a tobacco offering which is available for pick-up at the Aboriginal Cultural & Support Services office. (RC0002)

Elder GENE NOWEGEJICK, will be conducting a Sweat Lodge on Thursday, November 22nd, 2018 starting at 3pm at the Lakehead University Sweat Lodge site.

Sweat Lodge Ceremony

Please note that due to the effects of winter weather on the sweat lodge, our regular monthly sweat lodge ceremony scheduled for Friday, January 29th has been CANCELLED. 

We will instead provide students with the opportunity to attend a Sweat Lodge Teaching session in the Aboriginal Student Lounge on Friday, January 29th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. 

Light refreshments will be provided.

Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre - Recruitment Session

Megan Valente will be on campus Wednesday, October 17th from 12 noon to 1 pm in the Aboriginal Student Lounge (SC0004) facilitating an information session about volunteer opportunities with TBRHSC and what volunteering can add to your resume and life. She will be specially looking to recruit volunteers who have background with in indigenous culture, language and experiences so they can better serve patients and families.
