Applications Open Soon!
The Government of Canada’s annual recruitment program, the Recruitment of Policy Leaders (RPL), is now accepting applications starting November 24!
They are seeking accomplished persons from diverse backgrounds with the potential to lead positive change and develop creative solutions to policy issues in federal priority areas such as economic development, infrastructure, international trade, Crown-Indigenous relations, national security, and technological innovation. This program places successful candidates into a fully qualified pool for mid- to senior-level policy analyst roles (EC-05 through EC-07 levels). Successful candidates also receive mentorship and networking opportunities across the federal public service.
RPL strives to have a diversity of representation and takes an inclusive-first approach. Part of these efforts includes hosting an Indigenous stream. This stream has a longer application period and is assessed at every stage by individuals who are Indigenous and/or have additional cultural competency training.
Indigenous applicants are invited to apply from November 24 until December 22, 2025.
Note that RPL requires a graduate degree or a law degree plus an undergraduate degree in any discipline. They believe that Indigenous graduates have a lot to offer both the program and the Government of Canada. Indigenous perspectives are essential in policy, where recommendations and decisions on important issues are made daily for Canadians. By increasing Indigenous voices in these processes, we strongly believe that better decisions will be made with Indigenous communities.
You can learn more about RPL by following them on Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube. You can also visit their GCwiki page, which contains links to recorded presentations and video profiles of alumni, as well as information regarding webinars taking place in November and December.
Indigenous applicants are also encouraged to reach out to their Indigenous Career Navigators who are experienced Indigenous federal employees who provide career guidance to interested Indigenous candidates. Navigators can assist with job applications in a safe space. Should Indigenous students wish to contact an Indigenous Career Navigator to support their RPL application, their team can be reached at DFO.ICNP-PNCA.MPO@dfo-mpo.gc.ca.
