The Office of Aboriginal Initiatives offers a variety of on-campus services, connections to resources and referrals for all students. As part of the Orillia Student Affairs team, we work collaboratively with other Orillia campus services to meet your specific needs.
ONE ON ONE SUPPORT
LANGUAGE AND CULTURE
Everyone of all backgrounds is welcome to attend weekly gatherings at Simcoe Hall and Heritage Place. All language and culture gatherings are family-friendly, no experience necessary.
VISTING ELDERS ON CAMPUS
Visiting elders and knowledge keepers will be on campus throughout the semester in various classes, special events, and during designated open times throughout the semester.
Trish Monague will be in residence on a regular basis (dates to be announced).
For an introduction to approaching a traditional elder or healer, you can talk with Allysha Wassegijig, Aboriginal Initiatives Coordinator and review the informational brochure from Anishnawbe Health Toronto.
