Arts & Science Transfer

The Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities offers a degree program in Applied & Science for applicable General Arts and Science or Liberal Arts graduates from Ontario colleges.

Multilateral Pathways (General Transfer Agreements):

Graduates from any 2-year diploma program in General Arts and Science or Liberal Arts from an Ontario college, with a minimum average of 70%, may be considered for admission into the third year of the Bachelor of Arts and Science (Interdisciplinary Studies Major), or into the third year of the Honours Bachelor of Arts and Science (Interdisciplinary Studies Major).

All applicants will need to complete a certain number of specific courses from a variety of subject areas in their college program. The criteria are:

For the Honours Bachelor of Arts and Science (Interdisciplinary Studies Major) program:

  • at least two (2) one-semester courses of: math, science, geography, or introductory psychology;
  • at least one (1) one-semester course in: Inquiry methods or Senior Academic Research;
  • at least two (2) one-semester college courses of advanced academic content; and
  • at least two (2) introductory one-semester college courses in two (2) of the following areas: Anthropology, Biology, English Literature, Geography, General Science, History, Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology.

For the Bachelor of Arts and Science (Interdisciplinary Studies Major) program:

  • at least two (2) one-semester courses of: math, science, geography, or introductory psychology;
  • at least one (1) one-semester course in: Inquiry methods or Senior Academic Research;
  • at least two (2) one-semester college courses of advanced academic content; and
  • at least two (2) introductory one-semester college courses in one (1) of the following areas: Anthropology, Biology, English Literature, Geography, General Science, History, Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology.

Applicants who are lacking certain course content will be required to complete additional courses at Lakehead University.

All applicants must complete two (2) university-level full credits during the spring/summer term at Lakehead University.

Applicants who have taken more than the minimum number of advanced level or second-year university courses as part of their college program may be eligible to receive up to two (2) university-level full credits of advanced standing.

Georgian College:

Graduates of Georgian College's 2-year General Arts and Science diploma program, with a minimum average of 70%, may be considered for admission into the third year of the Bachelor of Arts and Science (Interdisciplinary Studies Major), or into the third year of the Honours Bachelor of Arts and Science (Interdisciplinary Studies Major). In addition, all applicants must complete two (2) university-level full credits during the spring/summer term at Lakehead University.
