Admission & Application Information for Mature Student Applicants

General Admission Requirements:

  • Applicants must successfully meet the minimum program specific preparatory course prerequisites at the Grade 12U or M level, or equivalent
  • Applicants must be considered by the Admissions Committee to hold promise of academic success.
  • At the request of the Admission Committee, Mature Student applicants may be required to submit an Admissions Profile**

** The Admissions Profile provides you with the opportunity to detail your skills and experience in order to demonstrate your potential for success at university.

Please note: For some programs, like Engineering and Nursing, a minimum grade is required for prerequisite courses.

How to Apply
To apply to any undergraduate program offered at Lakehead University as a Mature Student (excluding the Two-Year Bachelor of Education, Juris Doctor or One-Year Honours Bachelor of Social Work programs), the application form used will vary on the number of courses you intend to complete during your time at Lakehead University.

For full-time studies: (four or more full course equivalents) 
---> Apply through the Ontario Universities' Application Centre on the 105 Application Form

For part-time studies: (less than three and one half courses)
---> Apply through the Lakehead University Undergraduate Application Form

Applicants are to submit the following required documentation as part of the application process.

  1. Application & Application Fees (including $55 document evaluation if previously attended college)
  2. Admissions Profile (if requested by Enrolment Services - Undergraduate Admissions)

  5. Language Proficiency Requirements (if applicable)
  6. Consent Form & Reference Letter (Nursing transfer applicants only)

Taped Auditions Submitted to the Department of Music
Late applications will continue to be assessed on an individual basis

Auditions after the June 1 deadline will be considered in exceptional circumstances only.

For Visual Arts Applicants:
