As part of the 40th Anniversary celebrations, Lakehead U is holding a raffle -- with a grand prize of a 2006 Hyundai Sonata GL, worth $28,900 donated by Marostica Motors. Proceeds from the raffle will go toward Lakehead U student bursaries. |

(Thunder Bay) The community of Thunder Bay is invited to dinner at Lakehead University. The "Lakehead University Celebrates... 40 Years" Dinner will take place on Thursday, September 29, starting at 6:30 p.m. in The Hangar. To add excitement to the evening, Paul Shaffer, Musical Director of The Late Show with David Letterman, will be entertaining the crowd, joined by fellow musicians Lew Soloff, former member of Blood, Sweat, and Tears, and Tom "Bones" Malone, multi-instrumentalist star of the "Blues Brothers" movie and also of The Late Show with David Letterman. |

(Thunder Bay) It's that time of year again -- the time when students and faculty alike are gearing up for the new academic year. Starting on Friday, September 2, Lakehead University will come alive again with youthful energy as students check out the campus and move into residence. Orientation is an exciting, informative, action-packed week of activities welcoming new students to Lakehead and getting them ready for university. All new students -- from Thunder Bay or from afar -- are expected to participate in Orientation activities. |

(Thunder Bay) Lakehead University's Faculty of Education has developed a unique opportunity for non-traditional students in Thunder Bay. A new program called Humanities 101: A Lakehead University Community Initiative is being offered as a non-credit Lakehead U course to people who may not otherwise have the chance to attend post-secondary education. The first of it's kind in Ontario, this multidisciplinary course involves faculty members from around the university, and will cover issues related to Social Work, Aboriginal Studies, Political Science, Women's Studies, Anthropology, English, Music, and Philosophy. |

(Thunder Bay) Representatives from three levels of government as well as the public and private sectors of Northwestern Ontario have come together to study current information and communications technology challenges and opportunities. The study, which is the first of its kind involving all levels of government and the public and private sectors, is being carried out because the partners believe that sharing human and capital resources will greatly improve the individual and collective ability to advance technology solutions in this region. |

(Thunder Bay) Join the party on Thursday, June 30 at 6 p.m. at Lakehead University! On July 1, 1965, the Lakehead University Act came into effect, and the Thunder Bay community is invited on campus by Lake Tamblyn to celebrate Lakehead U's 40th Birthday! The celebration takes place by Lake Tamblyn, there will be free live music, a children's area, a reasonably priced BBQ, and an electrifying fireworks display after sunset. The antique car club will also be on display at the party. The exciting outdoor musical line up is: Viva, Green Dolphin Street, and C. R. Slam. |

The 40th Anniversary of Lakehead University, from 1965 to 2005, is featured on the cover with a montage of photographs that capture the University's diversity and excitement throughout the decades. |

(Thunder Bay) The City of Orillia is showing enormous community support for the Lakehead University Orillia campus. An Implementation Task Force has been created with volunteers from both Lakehead University and the City of Orillia, and there are 30 Orillia members involved in the Task Force at varying levels. |
