Psychology talk: Not Soldier Material: The war on 2SLGBTQIA+ members and their partners from the 1960s to the present

The Department of Psychology is pleased to host a hybrid talk titled "Not Soldier Material: The War on 2SLGBTQIA+ Members and Their Partners from the 1950's to the Present" by visiting speakers, Dr. Carmen Poulin (University of New Brunswick) and Dr. Lynne Gouliquer (Laurentian University) on February 20, starting at 4 p.m., in the Thunder Bay Senate Chambers UC 1001.
Those wishing to attend virtually need to pre-register at https://lakeheadu.zoom.us/meeting/register/alD5fM-tTN6_bo6AqYOucQ.
The presentation provides an overview of an initial Pan-Canadian study which illustrates the devastating impact of the pre-1992 witch hunts by the Canadian Forces on service members and their families, and the follow-up findings revealing contemporary effects of serving for 2SLGBTQIA+ military members and their partners. An overview of the intersectional, qualitative feminist methodology, the Psycho-Social Ethnography of the Commonplace (P-SEC), developed by Dr. Poulin and Dr. Gouliquer, will also be described in further detail.
