Dr. Prakash Kolan
"3GPP Standards: 5G Core and Media Streaming"

Dr. Prakash Kolan is Standards Engineer, Senior Staff at Samsung Mobility Innovation (SMI) Lab in Samsung Research America, US. His primary research areas include end-to-end network slicing in 5G networks, cloud media processing, next generation media services and delivery using multi-access edge computing (MEC). Dr.Kolan holds patents in the areas of cloud media processing and 5G media delivery, and authored articles that are published in leading IEEE and ACM journals and conferences.

Dr. Kolan is currently a standards delegate for Samsung in 3GPP SA4 SWG that specifies standards for media processing and delivery architecture in 5G networks. Prior to 3GPP SA4, he was a standards delegate for Samsung in 3GPP SA2 SWG (5G core network architecture) and MPEG (media processing technologies), and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Computer Science at University of North Texas, USA.
