"Deep learning in Land use classification: A case study at the Lakehead Agriculture Research Station"

Thursday, September 21st, 2023
2:30 pm

Dr. Muditha Heenkenda has a PhD in Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems from Charles Darwin University, Australia. Her research was focused on mapping mangrove species and biophysical variables using high spatial resolution remote sensing images. Although the environmental target varied from mangroves to agriculture and forest fire now, her common approach is to develop optimized models to extract quantitative information from remotely sensed images. Currently, she is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Geography and Environment, Lakehead University and teaches Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems courses.
