The Chemistry & Materials Science PhD candidate, Wenjie Liu, will present her doctoral research on Wednesday, September 6 at 1 pm in CB 4058 and on Zoom.

Title: Design, synthesis and biological evaluation of fluorine-containing triazole derivatives targeting lysophosphatidic acid receptor 1

Numerous studies have reported that lysophosphatidic acid receptor 1 (LPA1) is implicated in the progression and metastasis of breast cancer. The aim of this study was to develop LPA1 antagonists and radioligands for the treatment and diagnosis of breast cancer, respectively. One of the most potent compounds developed in this study, 1-(4'-(5-(((1-(3-fluorophenyl)ethoxy)carbonyl)amino)-4-methyl-1H-1,2,3-triazol-1-yl)-[1,1'-biphenyl]-4-yl)cyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid, exhibited inhibitory effects on LPA-induced cell proliferation, migration, and invasion in a breast cancer cell line MDA-MB-231. The LPA1 antagonists developed in this study have the potential to create a novel therapy for breast cancer.
