The Hudson’s Bay Company was the local general store for a number of Indigenous groups. Furs and pelts were traded for a wide variety of European commodities. Indigenous traders bought only goods that they wanted. Dr. Carlos will discuss the role consumer satisfaction played in the organization, operation, and success of the fur trade, and argue that satisfaction of Indigenous traders and groups was paramount.
