Bird Conservation in the Mexican Caribe

Vianney Cupiche, a visiting scholar from Mayan Intercultural University, will present on bird conservation in the Mexican Caribe.

Ms. Cupiche, a visiting scholar from Mexico, is certified as an official Federal Naturalist Guide by the Tourism Secretariat of Mexico. Since 2011 she has been teaching at the Mayan Intercultural University of Quintana Roo, Mexico in courses that include Ornithology, Tourism Sustainability, Community-based Tourism, Tourism Carrying Capacity, and Design of Interpretative and Recreational Trails.

Thunder Bay Field Naturalists and Lakehead University Faculty of Natural Resources Management are cooperating in presenting Ms. Cupiche who will speak on the current situation of bird conservation in the Mexican Caribe, the strategy of community involvement in bird conservation, and the tourist potential for bird watching, especially in rural localities.

The talk will be held Friday, May 25, 2018 from 7 to 9 p.m. Lunan Hall, St. Paul's United Church, 349 Waverley St., Thunder Bay.
