Anya Scheibmayr has spent the last 16 years living in Thunder Bay as an educator, mentor and advisor. Originally from Cobourg, Ontario, Anya completed her undergraduate degree at Queen’s University in Physical & Health Education and Geography in 2004 and moved to Thunder Bay in 2006 to complete her Bachelor of Education at Lakehead University. Since then Anya has been working as an educator in the north, teaching at Nipigon-Red Rock High School, and providing adult education to Indigenous communities throughout Superior Greenstone District School Board. She spent six years supervising a summer employment program for Indigenous youth, a community based initiative that partners with regional organizations including Lakehead University and Confederation College, to create pathways to post-secondary opportunities in the north.

In the Fall of 2014, Anya moved from a position at Confederation College and joined the team at Lakehead University’s Student Accessibility Services. She provided assistance and direction to students with various disabilities as they navigate the academic demands of their program. With firsthand experience in delivering quality service and support to students, Anya was very excited to bring her diverse experience to the role of Student Services Advisor at the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law. Currently completing her Masters of Education at Lakehead, she has passion for lifelong learning and community engagement. Anya couldn’t be happier assisting the future lawyers of the north in making a difference.
