
Maya Oversby
Maya is Red River Métis and mixed Irish and English, belonging to the Powerview-Pine Falls local in Southern Manitoba in Treaty 1 Territory. Maya was born and raised in Dryden, Ontario, before moving to Thunder Bay, where she has stayed for the past seven years while completing her Honours Bachelor of Outdoor Recreation and Master of Social Justice Studies. Maya has been a teacher's assistant for three years and, over this past year, expanded into contract lecturing, where she taught classes with the Department of Outdoor Recreation, Parks and Tourism, and Indigenous Learning at Lakehead University. Maya is now in the role of Indigenous Transition Year Program Coordinator and is thrilled to be supporting the 2026/27 ITYP cohort. Maya’s passions include beading, environmental advocacy, and spending time with friends and family.
