Dean Jobin-Bevans received his musical education at the University of Toronto where he obtained a degree in History and Literature of Music, and at McGill University where he completed both a master’s and doctorate degree in choral conducting. Until August 2005, Dr Jobin-Bevans was the Director of the McGill Conservatory of Music where he taught and coached voice. In September 2005 he joined the faculty in the Music Department at Lakehead University where in addition to teaching has held positions as the Chair of the Department of Music, Interim Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, and until 2022, the Principal of the Lakehead Orillia campus.
In addition to his university academic career, Dr. Jobin-Bevans was recently ordained a priest in the Anglican Church of Canada and is currently serving as the Incumbent at St Paul’s Anglican Church in Thunder Bay.
Research interests include the music of the English Reformation, the choral music of Benjamin Britten, and the music of Henry Aldrich, Dean of Christ Church (Oxford) 1689-1710.
