Previous Teaching/Work:

I began my career in 1996 as an English teacher in the then Fort Frances-Rainy River School Board.  After several years as a Department Head and Secondary Curriculum Coordinator, I moved into administration as an elementary administrator.  In 2006, I became the Superintendent of Education, overseeing elementary and secondary schools, as well as several portfolios, including Student Success, Special Education, and Safe Schools.  And in 2010, I became the Director of Education of the Rainy River District School Board.

As a supervisory officer in a small Northern Ontario school board, I have been afforded with many opportunities and experiences, from negotiations, to pupil accommodation reviews, to helping launch innovative programs and initiatives .  In addition to being the Secretary to the Board of Trustees, I hold several portfolios – parent engagement, leadership development, New Teacher Induction Program, and Indigenous Education – and am the supervisory officer responsible for several departments such as plant operations and information technology.

I enjoy gardening, baking, yoga, as well as spending time with my family.

Goals for Candidates

As J. F. Kennedy said, “Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other.”  Through the module, I look forward to learning with candidates as we reflect on our current strengths and areas for growth within the context of system leadership.
