(OR) The First Howl Orientation Day

We invite ALL new students to join us for The First Howl: Orientation Day! This fun-filled day is all about showing your Thunderwolf spirit, connecting with fellow new students, meeting your future professors, getting a few important tasks checked off your to-do list, and having fun. You won’t want to miss it! Participating in Orientation Day also gives you the chance to earn ballots toward our grand prize draws, and yes—lunch is FREE for all students!

Schedule of the Day

(OR) Board Games & Indoor Movie

We invite ALL new students to our indoor movie and board game night! After a busy day of Orientation, kick back in your comfiest clothes with blankets and new friends for a fun evening of board games, snacks, and a movie! The movie selection will be announced soon—stay tuned for updates! Please note that this event use to be an outdoor event, but has been moved indoors due to weather.

(OR) Welcome Dinner

Join us for a free dinner in the dining hall and enjoy the opportunity to keep connecting with fellow new students! This event is free and open to both residence and commuter students.

This event requires registration — don’t forget to register below!

(OR) Commuter House Meeting

Residence students have house meetings—why shouldn’t you? New commuter students, join us at your very own "house meeting" to get tips on winter driving, saving on gas, making friends while living off-campus, and more. Discover the ins and outs of commuting to Orillia!

Note: There's a super fun Commuter Social happening just before this. If you’re a commuter student, try to attend both events and kick off your Orientation on the right foot!

This event requires registration — don’t forget to register below!

(OR) Commuter & International Social

We warmly invite all commuter and international students to join the Commuter & International Student Social! Enjoy light refreshments and a relaxed atmosphere to connect with fellow students who share your experience, along with representatives from various campus departments.

This event will take place while Residence students are moving in, so it’s the perfect opportunity to meet new people and get oriented at your own pace.

(OR) Drop-In Pickleball

Drop by the tennis courts outside Rotary Place any time between 12 pm and 2 pm to play a game of pickleball or tennis, or meet up with fellow Thunderwolves for a walk along the paths through the West Orillia Sports Complex.

Notes regarding pickleball/tennis: No experience required, we're all learning together! The courts can't be booked, so we will play on whichever courts are available.

(OR) WellU Wednesday: Snoozefest

Join Student Health and Wellness for Snoozefest, where you will play a life-sized board game called Sheeps and Scrolls, where your sleep habits decide your fate! Just like Chutes and Ladders, you'll climb toward better rest with good sleep hygiene and slide back for the not-so-great sleep decisions. You may also find yourself hanging out in a blanket fort!

Learn how to build better sleep habits and win sleep-themed prizes while you're at it! Pyjamas are highly encouraged—and might even earn you bonus chances to win.

(OR) WellU Wednesday: No Pressure, All Pleasure

Get ready, Thunderwolves, for No Pressure, All Pleasure: Consent, Relationships & All the Stuff Sex Ed Didn’t Teach Us.

Let’s be real — most of us didn’t get the full story in health class. Join us for a judgment-free, inclusive, and useful conversation about the things we wish we’d learned sooner: how to navigate consent with confidence, build healthy relationships (romantic or otherwise), communicate boundaries, and take care of your sexual health.

(OR) WellU Wednesday: Fall Flavours

Embrace the cozy vibes of autumn and nourish your body and soul at the Fall Flavours event! Take part in delicious seasonal flavours and activities with important discussions on food security and well-being. Learn about resources and support systems available both on and off campus. We can’t wait to see you there!
