Math Skills Development (P/J) - YCO - Orillia

This non-credit workshop is for Primary/Junior Division Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) students who are either concerned about their mathematical competency and/or wish to strengthen their mathematical understanding.

Lesbain, Gay, Bi, Trans (LGBT) Youth in the Classroom

This workshop explores the difficulties faced by LGBT+ youth in the classroom relating to heteronormativity and homophobia. Through defining the identities of LGBT youth, as well as a positive and negative space, participants will learn how to create safe, caring environments for students, regardless of their identities. Case studies will be used to illustrate the common problems faced by LGBT youth in classrooms, as well as how these problems effect everyone in the classroom, school, and community.

Coaching in Ontario Schools - FBO - Orillia

OFSAA developed this course to give teacher-coaches and community volunteers the special skill-set that they need to coach effectively in the school environment. This non-credit workshop will assist in the development of core competencies that will increase your effectiveness as a coach of school sport and help you to have a meaningful impact on student-athletes.

Coaching and Leading Effectively

Upon completion of this non-credit workshop, coaches will be able to take leadership action, which can improve the conditions that support athlete performances.

In particular, coaches will be able to do the following:

iPad: Hands-on Lesson Planning

This non-credit, interactive workshop helps teacher candidates to integrate the iPad into their teaching praxis. Participants will have the opportunity to use the iPad to create a classroom-ready, digital lesson plan.

This course will introduce the iPad’s ability to create and use interactive videos, live demonstrations, and hands-on activities for teaching purposes.

During this course, teacher candidates will have the opportunity to do the following:

Creating Classroom Community

Creating classroom community and team building can make all the difference in the world

This non-credit workshop will discuss tried and true strategies that you can use in the classroom. Participants will have the chance to step into their students' shoes and try out some fun, hands-on games and activities. Be sure to wear comfortable clothes, as this is a very dynamic and interactive workshop.
