Program Information

You enter into Year 3 of the four-year Honours Bachelor of Arts & Sciences (Criminology major) program and can complete your degree in as little as two years.  

The Criminology program emphasizes a practitioner orientation with a variety of courses that introduce and familiarize students with the Canadian criminal justice system. Three thematic areas of focus run throughout the Program's course offerings: (1) social justice and human rights, (2) law and legal institutions, and (3) forensic science and criminalistics.

As a program graduate, you will be well situated to, among other things, consider careers in: Law enforcement (e.g., policing, border security), Corrections (e.g., institutions, probation), and Social work (e.g., victims services organizations, offender rehabilitation programs). You can also apply to further schooling that opens up additional career opportunities, such as: Law school, Teacher education, and Graduate school.

This program is offered at the Orillia Campus only.

Admission Requirements

To be considered for admission, you must:

  • Complete a two-year Police Foundations Diploma from Centennial College, Georgian College, or Sheridan College and
  • Achieve an overall average of at least 70%.

Program Information

You enter into Year 2 of the three-year Bachelor of Science (Natural Science major) program, and can complete your degree in as little as two years. 

Our program emphasizes field biology, and integrates many experiential learning opportunities including lab work and research internships. Each year, you will have the flexibility to choose electives from other Faculties to supplement your Biology education, and gain a well-rounded and multidisciplinary understanding of living organisms and the environment. Our location in the Boreal Forest makes Lakehead University the ideal institution to study Natural Science. We host intensive local field trips for our undergraduate students, making the most of the environment and wildlife available to us. Many other universities have to travel to get this experience, we can host our field trips within the 3 hours allotted for a class or a lab.

Admission Requirements

To be considered for admission, you must:

  • Complete a two-year Forestry Diploma, Forestry Technician Diploma or Forest Wildlife Diploma from an accredited Canadian college, and
  • Achieve a final overall average of at least 60% in the final year of your diploma program.

Business Diploma to the Honours Bachelor of Commerce Degree Transfer Program (Thunder Bay Campus)

Program Information

You enter into Year 2 of the four-year Honours Bachelor of Commerce program and can complete your degree in as little as three years. You must complete a spring/summer bridging program (with a minimum 60% average) consisting of 2 full course equivalents of courses in order to enter the fall term. At the time of application, you will need to select your major.
