Environmental Technician Diploma to Honours Bachelor of Environmental Management Degree Transfer Program

Program Information

Modern Natural Resources Management is about people, science and technology. It manages the natural environment for the benefit of society, through the application of both natural and social science. As a student, you will acquire a complement of business skills, scientific expertise, along with practical experience; in fact, everything necessary to create meaningful and lasting solutions environmental challenges of today. You have the opportunity to discover methods that will sustain our forests and ecosystems for generations to come. Should you decide to enrol in Environmental Management, you may choose between three options after your second year of study: Wildlife Conservation and Management, Sustainable Land Use, or Conservation Management and Planning.

Graduates of the Honours Bachelor of Environmental Management degree may apply to join the Canadian Association of Environment, and they may also seek accreditation for their Environmental Professional Certification with ECO Canada.

Graduates who successfully complete the Wildlife Conservation and Management specialization are eligible for accreditation as a Certified Wildlife Biologist by the Wildlife Society.

How the Transfer Program Works

You enter into Year 3 of the four-year Honours Bachelor of Environmental Management program, and can complete your degree in as little as two years. All admits are required to complete the four-week summer transition program prior to entering the fall semester. The summer transition classes normally begin in July. To see the courses that are part of the program, refer to our Academic Calendar and select:

  1. Programs & Faculties from the menu,
  2. Undergraduate Programs from the Faculty of Natural Resources Management section, and
  3. Honours Bachelor of Environmental Management, Transfer Opportunities from the list of programs. 
  4. You should also review Years 3 and 4 found using the Honours Bachelor of Environmental Management link.

Admission Requirements

To be consider for admission, you must:

  • Complete a two-year Environmental Technician Diploma from an accredited Canadian college, and
  • Achieve a 70% average in the final year of the program.

To apply, please:

  1. Use the OUAC Undergraduate Application. You may need to create an account first, if you have never applied using the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC) before. 
  2. Select the program Natural Resources Management: Enviro­nmental Management & Forestry (Pathways with All Ontario Colleges) (Thunder Bay Campus only). The OUAC program code is ABF.
  3. Select Environmental Management using the Subject of Major Interest drop-down menu.
  4. As you proceed through the application process, use the Online Transcript Request to have your transcript(s) sent to us, if applicable: 
    1. We require all of your post-secondary transcripts (i.e. from all colleges and universities attended).
    2. We do not require your high school transcript.
    3. Some colleges do not add in progress courses to their transcripts. If you are currently completing courses, you are encouraged to upload a screenshot of your upcoming winter term courses to your myInfo account. You will receive your myInfo login credentials in an acknowledgement email from us upon receipt of your application (which can take a few days after you apply using the OUAC).

Our Concurrent Bachelor Degree programs allow you to earn a Bachelor of Education degree (BEd) as well as a Bachelor degree in a partnering discipline. This degree combination will help you to develop your teaching knowledge, skills, and attitudes as well as your subject-matter expertise to teach learners well and to address the requirements of the Ontario curriculum.

Our Concurrent Bachelor Degree programs can prepare you to teach in the Primary/Junior (P/J) or Intermediate/Senior (I/S) division. Once you complete a Concurrent Bachelor Degree program, you will receive a Bachelor degree, a BEd, and we will recommend you to the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) for certification to teach in Ontario.

How the Transfer Program Works

We will review your transcript and determine what transfer credits you will receive towards your degree program. In most cases, admits tend to receive 5 full course equivalents, which equates to approximately one year of university study. As a result, you may be able to complete your Concurrent Bachelor Degree program in as little as 4 years. To see the courses that are part of the program, refer to our Academic Calendar and select:

  2. Undergraduate Programs from the Faculty of Education section, 
  3. Department of Undergraduate Studies in Education at the bottom of the page,
  4. Five- and Six-Year Concurrent Bachelor Degree Programs from the list of programs,
  5. Select your specialization of choice (P/J or I/S), and
  6. Select your program of choice.

Admission Requirements

To be consider for admission, you must:

  • Complete a two-year Early Childhood Education Diploma (ECE) from an accredited Ontario college, and
  • Achieve an overall average of at least 75%.

Some of the Concurrent Bachelor Degree programs have additional program-specific prerequisites (refer to the drop-down menu) that you will need to satisfy in order to gain admission. Your ECE diploma satisfies the requirements for the following programs:

  • History (Orillia Campus only)
  • Interdisciplinary Studies (Orillia Campus only)
  • Visual Arts (Thunder Bay Campus only) - no portfolio required!

Sociology studies all aspects of how human beings relate with each other. Such human relations range from intimate relationships, organizational and institutional dynamics, through to social processes that are felt at national and global levels. Substantive issues of interest to sociologists include health and illness, marriage and family, crime and deviance, science and technology, popular culture, social change, economy and society, gender and sexuality, education, social inequality, prejudice and discrimination, among many others.

Explore the major ideas and insights of the founders of sociology, as well as contemporary thinkers who examine present-day social life. Master the essentials of social research - how to design questionnaires and carry out meaningful surveys, collect and analyze quantitative, qualitative, and historical data, and conduct participant-observation and interviews. How the Transfer Program Works

We will review your transcript and determine what transfer credits you will receive towards your degree program. In most cases, admits tend to receive 5 full course equivalents, which equates to approximately one year of university study. As a result, you may be able to complete your program in as little as 5 years (4 years if you select the Bachelors option instead of the Honours Bachelor route).

To be consider for admission, you must:

  • Complete Confederation College's two-year Early Childhood Education Diploma (ECE), and
  • Achieve an overall average of at least 75%.

Application Process

To apply, please:

  1. Use the OUAC Undergraduate Application. You may need to create an account first, if you have never applied using the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC) before. 
  2. Select either Education: Psychology, or Sociology (Pathways with Confederation College) (Thunder Bay Campus only). The OUAC program code is AAX.
  3. For the Honours route, select Sociology (Thunder Bay) using the Subject of Major Interest drop-down menu. For the Bachelors route, select Sociology (BA) (Thunder Bay).
  4. As you proceed through the application process, use the Online Transcript Request to have your transcript(s) sent to us, if applicable: 
    1. We require all of your post-secondary transcripts (i.e. from all colleges and universities attended).
    2. We do not require your high school transcript.
    3. Some colleges do not add in progress courses to their transcripts. If you are currently completing courses, you are encouraged to upload a screenshot of your upcoming winter term courses to your myInfo account. You will receive your myInfo login credentials in an acknowledgement email from us upon receipt of your application (which can take a few days after you apply using the OUAC).

Police Foundations Diploma to Honours Bachelor of Arts (Political Science major) Degree Transfer Program

Program Information

Government policies influence virtually every aspect of our lives, from housing to education to crime. Our Political Science program studies the institutions, ideas, practices, and power that shape government and policy at all levels. Students will gain a thorough understanding of political systems - with a particular focus on Canadian politics - and overarching notions of freedom, equality, and justice.

As a Political Science student, you will gain a thorough understanding of governments and political systems. You will learn about the various aspects of Canadian politics such as the federal system, voting behaviour, political parties and pressure groups. Our goal is to provide a well-rounded Political Science education by applying both theoretical and practical modes of analysis to examine sociological, economic, and historical contexts. Our diverse course content, combined with an intimate learning environment, provides a comprehensive education in classic and contemporary government, law, and politics, as well as highly developed writing, research and analytical skills.

The study of environmental issues is becoming increasingly multidisciplinary, taking into consideration socio-economic, cultural and political actions and consequences in addition to scientific analysis. Our Environmental Studies program will provide you with the background to understand and evaluate environmental issues and solutions from a multitude of perspectives. You will gain the business skills, scientific expertise and practical experience needed to solve modern environmental and sustainability challenges.
