General Information About Transferring from a College

General Admission Requirements

If you are transferring from an accredited college, you must satisfy the following admission requirements:

  • Completed a minimum of one year of full-time academic studies at your college since leaving high school,
  • Completed the appropriate program-specific prerequisite courses at the high school or college level, and
  • Achieved a minimum overall average of 70%.

The above requirements only apply to college transfer students who are applying to a degree program that does not have a college transfer pathway/program. Learn more about our specific admission requirements for our college transfer/pathway programs.

In addition to the General Admission Requirements, please also review the Program Specific Pre-requisites to determine what particular courses you will require from your academic background.

Transfer Credit

If further information is needed before transfer credit can be assigned, next steps will be outlined on the offer letter.

Transfer Credit Eligibility:

  1. College transfer students who have completed their certificate or diploma, or who have partially completed their diploma, may be eligible for transfer credit.
  2. Only academic courses completed at an accredited college are eligible for transfer credit consideration.
  3. Only academic courses with a minimum grade of 70% will be considered for transfer.
  4. The amount of transfer credit received depends on a number of factors, including but not limited to: previous grades, course content, and the program applied to at Lakehead University.
  5. Students entering through our Academic Support Access Program will be considered for transfer credit on a case-by-case basis.
