You have made a great choice in applying to Lakehead University! Your application is just the beginning of your adventure with Lakehead.
The following steps will help you know what to expect and how you can ensure your application stays on track:
1) Watch for your Acknowledgement Email
Within a few days of applying to Lakehead University, you will receive your Acknowledgment Email. This is a confirmation email that Lakehead will send to you to verify that we have received your application and to the specific program(s) you submitted as part of your application. Please review to ensure it is accurate. You will find this email in your personal email you provided on your application.
Your Acknowledgement Email will also provide you with:
- Your Lakehead University Student ID Number (i.e. 674321)
- Your Username and Password to access myInfo (your student information portal and your Lakehead email account)
If you do not receive your Acknowledgement Email, check your Spam folder and add us to your safe sender list. If you still can't find it, contact us.
2) Keep your Student ID and Username/Password Handy
Your Lakehead Student ID Number and your username/password are important to always have on hand. Store them in your phone or wherever you keep important information.
If you forget or are having trouble with your username/password, click here.
3) Check your Lakehead Email
MyEmail is your Lakehead University email account. The user name and password to access your myEmail is provided to you in your Acknowledgement Email. Lakehead will communicate with you regarding your application only through your Lakehead University email account. Please ensure you check this email account regularly for updates on your application and next steps as well as information on scholarships/bursaries, residence, orientation, and more.
4) Visit myInfo, Your Student Information Portal
The same username/password to access your Lakehead email will be used to access myInfo. myInfo is your student information portal and the place where you can perform a variety of functions related to your enrolment both as an applicant and a student at Lakehead.
Through myInfo, you can:
- Track the status of your application
- View your application history
- Check the status of your required documentation
- Apply for bursaries
- Apply for residence
- And more!
5) Track your Application Status
Through myInfo, you can track the status of your application at any time using the Track My Application Status feature. Here you can see if an admission decision has been made. You will also be notified of an Offer of Admission with an official Welcome package to Lakehead.
You should also see if we are awaiting any further documentation/information from you. Using the View my Outstanding Documents tool you can see if we are waiting on a certain document like a transcript from one of your previous educational institutes.
Note: Please stay patient as we assess your application. Take a look at our Offer Timeline to see when applications are reviewed and released to get a sense of when you may be hearing from us.
6) Submit your Outstanding Documents (if applicable)
In order for us to review your application for admission consideration, we will need official documents including transcripts from the educational institutions you have studied. Using the View my Outstanding Documents tool you can see if we are waiting on a certain document. We will accept unofficial documents to speed up our admission assessment. You can upload these documents directly to us using myInfo. However, if you have already requested documents to be sent to us, please do not send us additional copies.
7) Accept Your Offer of Admission
Once you've received your Offer of Admission you will need to accept to secure your spot in the program and let us know you will be joining us at Lakehead.
All other applicants are required to accept their Offer using the Accept my Offer feature in myInfo.
Please refer to your Offer of Admission for deadline dates associated with accepting your offer. It is imperative you respond by the stated deadlines in order to secure your spot in your program.
