Lakehead University, Thunder Bay Campus, invites applications for Field Instructors in the School of Outdoor Recreation, Parks & Tourism.
Field Instructor Positions Available for:
● 3-4-day weekend trips
● Single day field activities & skills labs
Position duties:
● Lead, facilitate and/or assist a single or multi-day intensive field experience
● Instruction in a number of specific skill areas: canoeing, kayaking, hiking, rock/ice climbing, mountain biking, skiing, snowshoeing, navigation, camp craft etc.
● Support skills labs and assessments
● Teach and model excellent technical knowledge, risk management, safety, and judgement
● Organize logistics and equipment
● Supervise and evaluate students
Position Qualifications:
● Certification and/or related experience in above activities
● Excellent teaching and communication/facilitation skills
● Excellent safety awareness and risk management skills
● It would be an asset to have: Wilderness First Responder or equivalent first aid training
● It would be an asset to have water safety, climbing, mountain bike, and/or skiing training/certification.
Hours/position: Max of 100 hrs for each semester with work on Fridays, Saturdays &/or Sundays
Dates: September 1, 2026 to May 1, 2027
