International Education Week

International Education Week (IEW) is an annual event celebrated every third week of November by over 100 nations around the globe. This event is focused on strengthening the understanding of international education and celebrating its importance. During IEW, LUI  showcases the cultural diversity of our exceptional international student population, informs the Lakehead community about our efforts to internationalize Lakehead’s campuses and communities, and highlights the importance of international education. 

Interactive activities and sessions hosted by the staff, faculty, and/or students are designed to enlighten participants, celebrate cultural diversity, and introduce opportunities for internationalization through study and work abroad. In keeping with our vision to develop inter-culturally aware and socially engaged leaders through transformative global experiences, LUI is working hard to honour the many cultures that make our communities so vibrant, and to engage in knowledge-sharing and skill-building. 

To celebrate International Education Week, Lakehead International is hosting several interactive events and activities to recognize our international student body, promote study abroad opportunities, and highlight internationalization efforts on our campuses. Highlights for the week include:

• IEW Kick-Off Event (TB & OR) - Join us on Monday, November 17, from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm in the Agora/Learning Commons for activities, snacks, photos, and information sharing!  

• Global ME Week (TB & OR) -  Attend one of our exciting sessions to meet university partners, connect with exchange Alumni, discover international research opportunities, and learn about study abroad opportunities. See the full list of Global ME sessions here.

• Culture Days in the International Centre (TB) - Join us every afternoon from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm as we showcase different cultures from around the world.  

• Culture Competitions in the Learning Commons (OR) - Join us on November 19 from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm for some friendly fun.

• Global Runway Show (TB) -  Strut your culture on Friday, November 22, from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm in the Agora, followed by cake and coffee/tea. Want to walk the runway? Sign up here. (Yes, staff and faculty, you can join our students on the red carpet)
