University of Waikato Indigenous Short-Term Program Information Session
Lakehead University is pleased to announce an exceptional two-week funded program at the University of Waikato, New Zealand, focused on Indigenous knowledge sharing and land-based learning. Taking place from July 8th to July 22nd, 2023, this program presents an exclusive opportunity for students to explore the rich cultural heritage of the Maori people, gain hands-on experience with land-based learning, and expand their understanding of global Indigenous cultures. Preference will be given to Indigenous applicants.
Lakehead University will sponsor 10 outstanding undergraduate students to participate in this groundbreaking opportunity via the Government of Canada’s Global Skills Opportunity funding. Relevant program fees ($3500 CAD), including activities, in-country transportation, and some meals, will be covered. Moreover, all participants will be provided with comprehensive health and travel insurance, along with funding for airfare up to $2500 CAD.
Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:
● Must be an undergraduate student (returning to Lakehead for the Fall 2023 term)
● Must be a domestic student
● 60% minimum cumulative academic average
