Emotional Intelligence in the Workplace

In this lecture, Lakehead Business Professor, Dr. Kathy Sanderson, gives an introduction to emotional intelligence (EI)—the ability to recognize and manage emotions in yourself and others—and its four core components: understanding our own emotions, managing emotions, perceiving emotions of others, and building relationships. We'll explore why EI has become increasingly valued in business environments, contributing to stronger leadership, teamwork, and conflict resolution. Participants will learn practical strategies for applying EI to improve workplace communication and develop competencies that employers consistently rank among the most desirable qualities in new graduates.

Join us for an engaging lecture on Binary Search Trees (BSTs) hosted by Dr. Abedalrhman Alkhateeb from the Faculty of Computer Science at Lakehead University. 

As part of your second-year undergraduate journey in Computer Science, this session will explore one of the most fundamental and powerful data structures. The session will define BST, learn the basic operations of the structure, and explain the efficiency of using it compared to linear structure (e.g. Arrays and Lists). The session aims to strengthen the problem solving skills of the students and will discuss real-world applications in databases and file systems.
