Program: Kinesiology
Hometown: Beachville, ON
Being from Beachville, ON, I was far from my hometown while I was at university. Despite this, Lakehead became my second home as I met so many great friends and made amazing memories. Not only have I had countless opportunities to get involved on campus and in residence, but the Kinesiology program also has some really exciting events. I have been involved in many clubs and events on campus and was very engaged with residence life through house events.
Furthermore, Lakehead has prepared me for the future in terms of developing my communication and leadership. One of the most invaluable experiences I had at Lakehead was being in the Kinesiology Co-op program. Through a 16-month paid co-op term, I had diverse work experiences in the Occupational Health and Safety department at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, in the rehab and cardiopulmonary departments in Sioux Lookout’s Meno Ya Win Health Centre, in a private pedorthic clinic, in the Sioux Lookout Pediatric Diabetes Program, and lastly in the London YMCA as a site director. Without the facilitation and support from many staff and professors at Lakehead, I would not have had this opportunity.
