I knew Lakehead University was the university for me based on their fantastic entrance scholarship program. Due to my good marks in high school I was lucky enough to have free tuition for my first year of university. Aside from scholarships I was able to stay in my beautiful hometown of Thunder Bay. It’s a city that I know well and have connections with many people in the area.

In first year I was struggled with the transition to university. This was reflected in some of my classes. I decided that I should talk with some of my professors at Lakehead. At first I was nervous, I was scared they would be unapproachable, but I quickly found out the opposite. They really helped me come up with a plan of action for that year. Ever since that experience I’ve been able to relax more about school because I know that the staff at Lakehead want to help and see the students succeed.
