Admission & Application Information for CEGEP Transfer Students

General Admission Requirements: 

  • First year of CEGEP General Program (the Collegial Program) or successful completion of grade 12 in a recognized Quebec private school (Senior High School Leaving Certificate);
  • A minimum overall average of B/70% or equivalent;
  • Successfully meets the minimum program specific preparatory course prerequisites at the Grade 12U or M level or equivalent

How to Apply:

The Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC) processes and distributes applications for all universities within Ontario for individual universities to assess. Where you are currently studying or have studied in the past will dictate which application you will use.

If you are currently attending a high school outside of Ontario or have graduated with an Secondary School Diploma and have not attended any post-secondary institution since graduating

Required Documentation:

Applicants are to submit the following required documentation as part of the application process.

  1. Application & Application Fees (including the $55 document evaluation fee)
  2. Official Transcripts
  3. Language Proficiency Requirements (if applicable)
  4. Audition & Theory Test (Music applicants only)
  5. Art Portfolio (Visual Arts applicants only)

Note:

For applicants who have attended or are currently attending a Quebec CEGEP have the option of having their grade information sent automatically from OUAC to Enrolment Services - Undergraduate Admissions at Lakehead University. Applicants should indicate their Quebec Code permanent in the appropriate section of the application to allow the OUAC to collect and transfer their grades electronically. Applicants will not need to forward hardcopy transcripts from their CEGEP.

Transfer Credit:

CEGEP applicants must present a minimum 70% overall average to be considered for transfer credit. Graduates of a three-year program with DEC diploma may be eligible for up to 5 full credit equivalents; graduates of two-year program with DEC diploma may be eligible for up to 3 full credit equivalents.
