Jacqueline (Jackie) Dojack
Biography

Jacqueline (Jackie) Dojack is always ready to apply her formidable energy to helping individuals and organizations flourish.

Over the years, she has supported Lakehead University as it developed into an innovative nationally-recognized institution. From 1996 to 2008, Jackie was on Lakehead’s Board of Governors and coordinated major fundraising campaigns. As Board of Governors Chair from 2004 to 2006, she was involved in two historic milestones: the opening of the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) and the opening of Lakehead’s Orillia campus.

Jackie began her professional career with the Lakehead Board of Education in 1968, progressing from teacher to vice principal to superintendent of education. In 1990, she joined the Ontario Ministry of Education and Training’s northwestern branch where she served in senior positions until retiring in 1998.

Retirement, however, offered the opportunity to take on new challenges. In 1998, Jackie founded Dojack Associates Ltd., a consulting firm providing program reviews, strategic planning services, and dispute resolution.

From 2007 to 2013, she was on NOSM’s Board of Directors and was part of a successful initiative to encourage doctors trained in the north to practise medicine in the north.

Jackie has volunteered extensively with community groups including the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra, the Port Arthur Rotary Club, the Lakehead Regional Family Centre’s Community Kitchen, and Nu-Vision Ministry. She is currently president of the Lutheran Community Care Centre’s Board of Directors and a member of the United Way Thunder Bay Board of Directors and the City of Thunder Bay Police Services Board.

Nationally, Jackie is on the pension and benefits board of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Canada. She’s also been an Elections Canada officer and a regent of Augustana University College in Camrose, Alberta. Her husband, Ernest Dojack, is also a dedicated volunteer.

Jackie Dojack holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Manitoba, a Master’s of Education from the University of Toronto, and a Certificate in Dispute Resolution from Lakehead University in collaboration with the University of Windsor. Her previous honours include the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium President’s Award and the Port Arthur Rotary Club’s Rotarian of the Year Award.
