Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) – Thunder Bay
The Faculty of Engineering at Lakehead University - Thunder Bay offers a uniquely designed four-year Bachelor of Engineering Degree program in Electrical Engineering, with a Co-op/Internship option available. The BEng (Electrical) degree at Lakehead University – Thunder Bay is accredited through the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB).
The unique structure of Lakehead’s programs at the Thunder Bay campus enables students to earn a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering in four years while also completing the requirements of an Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma by the end of the second year of their BEng degree program. Lakehead University - Thunder Bay has the only Faculty of Engineering in Canada where, after completing high school, you can earn a Bachelor of Engineering Degree and an Engineering Technology Diploma in four years.
The Faculty of Engineering- Thunder Bay campus also offers a post-diploma engineering degree program in Electrical Engineering designed specifically for graduate engineering technologists. The special design of the 4-year Bachelor of Engineering degree at the Lakehead University Thunder Bay campus enables qualified engineering technology graduates from accredited Canadian technology programs to enter the BEng (Electrical) program after completing post-diploma transition courses offered in the summer session prior to third year. The Summer Transition program, offered in July and August, is designed to assist qualified engineering technologists make the transition to university studies. Earn a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) from Lakehead University with Advanced Diploma (Electrical Engineering Technology) from Georgian College through the Lakehead-Georgian Partnership.
The BEng (Electrical Engineering)* Lakehead-Georgian Partnership by Lakehead University and Georgian College offers an integrated Bachelor of Engineering Degree and Electrical Engineering Technology Advanced Diploma. Offered at the Georgian College Barrie campus, students will complete both a degree and a diploma in 4 years.
The program provides students with a solid foundation across all areas of electrical engineering allowing them to gain valuable theoretical knowledge, practical engineering and applied technology skills. Specific course offerings focus on subfields such as digital and analog microelectronics, power electronics, communication systems, computer networks, power systems and electrical machinery.
* Graduates of the Lakehead-Georgian Partnership will be awarded a Lakehead University Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree. In addition, the Lakehead-Georgian partnership program will seek accreditation with the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB) when the initial cohort reaches year-4 per the standard CEAB process that is used for all Lakehead BEng programs.
