Lakehead University in top 100 of Times Higher Education Impact Rankings for third consecutive year
In April 2022, for the third year in a row, Lakehead University was included in the top 100 of the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings. Lakehead is the highest ranked university in the world with under 10,000 students.
Lakehead is ranked 64th out of 1,406 universities from around the world in the Impact Rankings which measure the societal impact of universities by evaluating an institutions’ success in delivering the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In 2022, Lakehead has been ranked as one of the top universities in the world contributing to poverty reduction, elimination of hunger, reduced inequalities, good health and wellbeing, and to peace, justice and strong institutions.
Lakehead is the only primarily undergraduate university in Canada that participated in the 2022 Impact Rankings and one of only 16 Canadian universities to be included in the top 100.
Lakehead is ranked in all 17 SDGs, which demonstrates the University’s commitments to be a leader in sustainability and to embed and embrace sustainability throughout the university community.

Research Infosource ranks Lakehead among Canada's top universities
in December 2020, Research Infosource named Lakehead the number two university in Canada in the undergraduate category of its annual Research University of the Year assessment. Lakehead tied for first overall among Ontario universities in its category, and ranked eighth out of 19 primarily undergraduate universities from across Canada.
Lakehead’s placement among the top of the country’s undergraduate universities category is based on the university standing out on a balanced scorecard of research inputs and outputs, according to the annual ranking of Canada’s Top 50 Research Universities by Research Infosource, Canada’s source of research and development intelligence.
Lakehead was ranked in the top spot for the previous five years — the first time an institution in Research Infosource’s undergraduate category was ever ranked Research University of the Year five years in a row.

2021 Maclean’sUniversity Rankings
Maclean’s has once again included Lakehead University among Canada’s top 10 primarily undergraduate universities in the magazine’s 2021 University Rankings.
Lakehead tied for first overall among Ontario universities in its category, and ranked eighth out of 19 primarily undergraduate universities from across Canada.

Times Higher Education ranks Lakehead University among world’s top universities
In September 2020, Lakehead University was included in the top half of the Times Higher Education’s list of top universities from around the world.
The 2021 Times Higher Education World University Rankings placed Lakehead University in the 601-800 category out of more than 1,500 universities from 93 countries.
This is the second year that Lakehead University has participated in the rankings and, once again, Lakehead was the only primarily undergraduate university from Ontario to have participated.

Lakehead named 'Research University of the Year' in our category
In November 2019, and for the fifth consecutive year, Research Infosource named Lakehead Canada’s Research University of the Year in the undergraduate university category.
It was the first time that a university in Research Infosource’s undergraduate category has been ranked Research University of the Year five years in a row.

Lakehead University in Top 100 of Times Higher Education Impact Rankings
In Spring 2019, Lakehead University placed 98th in the 2020 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings of 766 universities from 85 countries around the world. The rankings are based on the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and more than 220 measurements.
Lakehead is the only primarily undergraduate university in Canada that participated in the 2020 Impact Rankings. The University joined a select group of universities from around the world in the top 100, ranking ahead of several top comprehensive and research-intensive Canadian universities.

In 2018, as part of Research Infosource's evaluation of universities' research achievements, Lakehead University place first in the undergraduate institution category for not-for-profit partnerships.
Lakehead University earns CRC's 2014 Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Recognition Award
In 2014, Canada Research Chair's conferred its Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Recognition Award to Lakehead University for our "exemplary recruitment, nomination and/or appointment practices that promote equity and diversity".
