(Orillia) As the summer comes to a close, students across Ontario are getting ready to head back to school. Attending post-secondary school is a big change for most young adults, as they move away from home and start a new chapter of their lives. It can be a very scary experience and one of the best ways to help calm those fears is to attend Orientation. At Lakehead Orillia, students can be guaranteed a great first impression of university life, as the campus began planning their Thunderwolves Howl: Orientation 2014 all the way back in April.

Thunderwolves Howl! 2014, which will be from Thursday, Sept. 4 until Wednesday, Sept. 10, is focused on helping students make a successful transition to Lakehead University. Faculty and staff at Lakehead look forward to welcoming new undergraduate students and their families to the Thunder Bay campus.

One of the exhibitors, Elite Education, would take her resume and five years later, offer her the opportunity of a lifetime: a teaching job in the United Arab Emirates.

(Orillia) A new joint partnership between Lakehead University and the Georgian University Partnership Centre will expand postsecondary opportunities to better serve the students of Orillia, Barrie, Simcoe County, and beyond. The partnership details were shared at a City of Orillia Special Council meeting on Monday, July 21.

(Thunder Bay) Lakehead University will once again host high school students participating in the annual Shad Valley program to learn about entrepreneurship, science and technology. This year, 64 students from across Canada and one student from Saudi Arabia will live in our Thunder Bay campus residence from June 29 until July 25 while attending lectures and workshops at Lakehead University.

The task force’s chair, Dr. Lori Chambers, said she is pleased with the results of the task force’s work and hopes its report helps Lakehead enhance and expand existing supports for victims of sexual assault.
