Nov 4	Lakehead U and RBC Launch Joint Aboriginal Outreach Program (Thunder Bay) Today, Lakehead University's Office of Aboriginal Initiatives and RBC launched an exciting, one-year, four-stage pilot project. The RBC - Lakehead University Joint Aboriginal Outreach Program will offer a series of events and activities to Aboriginal youth living in and around Thunder Bay over the upcoming year.

Oct 20	Lakehead U Hosts Northern Ontario Premiere of Documentary Film <i>Beetle Queen Conquers Tokyo</i> (Thunder Bay) Lakehead University is hosting Northern Ontario's premiere screening of the documentary film Beetle Queen Conquers Tokyo. This event has been organized and sponsored by the MES Program, the Food Security Research Network, and the Centre for Northern Studies. Attendees will also have the opportunity to dialogue with Jessica Oreck, the film's producer, writer, and director.

Sep 27	New Research to Improve End-of-Life Care in First Nations Communities (Thunder Bay) Today, Lakehead announced receipt of a $1.825 million Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Aboriginal Health Intervention Grant, the largest CIHR grant the University has ever received. The grant was awarded to a research team comprising representation from Lakehead University's Centre for Education on Research and Aging in Health (CERAH), St. Joseph's Health System's Research Network, and four First Nations communities from areas across Ontario and Manitoba.
